Hive Blockchain – Digital Currency Mining Network Technology?

Canadian BTC Exchanges

Looking to dip my toes into some crypto-coins from Canadian Exchanges and am having difficulty finding current reviews of the exchanges I'm considering the following and looking to make smallish trades with a few exchanges to see what I can do in 6-12 months while I learn the ropes. Seems tho that any reviews I can find on most of these are a year or more and hard to see what is legit vs bluffery.
The "predatory exchange checklist" sub has been helpful, for some in narrowing things down for me - hoping the hive-mind can give me some last-minute pointers.
https://www.reddit.com/BitcoinCA/comments/getkpf/psa_predatory_exchange_checklist/
I'm thinking of starting off with Ethereum, Stellar, Ripple or even Bitcoin Cash to start exploring. I have my own off-line wallet and am hoping to diversify a bit in the process.
For exchanges, I'm leaning towards Coinsmart or Newton but would appreciate any advice (good or bad) to help steer me in the right direction if at all possible. I'm ok with a bit of a leap of faith in my first foray as I'll be limiting my exposure, and try to make sure my risks are educated wherever possible.

Buy TRON (TRX) easy! Rating services

Buy TRON (TRX) easy! Rating services

In preparation for the launch of the game 🐝 BeeHive, we faced the task again — how our customers who do not have TRX can easily buy it.
We conducted our analysis of services for a quick and easy purchase of TRX and received the following analysis, which we have issued in a kind of rating. We did not consider the purchase of cryptocurrency on the crypto exchanges, because for this there are already many reviews and videos on YouTube, our goal was to find services that allow you to quickly buy the TRX currency in the simplest way, without registrations and additional verifications.
📌 https://www.tronwallet.me/buy-tron-trx — the site of the official Tron wallet, allows you to buy TRX with VISA and MasterCard, ApplePay for $ 25 or less without verification and for amounts more after registration.
As a payment solution, they use the https://carbon.money/ service, which we will discuss in more detail, as well as our experience of working with them, in the next article.
📌 https://indacoin.com is a platform that allows you to buy TRX with VISA and MasterCard, the minimum purchase amount is $ 100 or more.
📌 https://www.bestchange.ru/ — monitoring of exchange services (mainly for the Russian-speaking segment). There is an English version of the site — https://www.bestchange.com/, but it has a much smaller number of exchange directions.
📌 https://coinswitch.co/ — a platform that finds the best options for exchanging Fiat or cryptocurrency for the cryptocurrency you need.
Among the advantages is one of the best courses, the lack of registration and verification, even if the exchange takes place using the Binance exchange.
📌 Services: https://godex.io, https://stealthex.io, https://changenow.io— products of the same type, if not identical, aimed at exchanging one cryptocurrency for another, in our case TRX.
Do not require any verification or registration. The transaction usually takes up to 30 minutes.
📌 https://coingate.com — the ability to buy TRX from an SEPA bank account or by direct bank transfer for countries such as: China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam. It is possible to buy from Skrill and Neteller accounts, as well as from the account of mobile operators.
📱 For smartphones:
📌 MathWallet.org — wallet allows you to convert your existing cryptocurrency to TRX (SWAP function), bypassing third-party exchange services.
Verification or proof of identity is not needed. You simply create a cryptocurrency wallet for each currency you use (each wallet has its own seed phrase for recovery and can be restored if necessary in any other wallet).
Download: Appstore, Android.
In addition, you can immediately participate in the game BeeHive from this wallet, without any restrictions, because it has a built-in dapp-browser.
📌 Indacoin — a service designed for easy purchase of TRX cryptocurrency (and not only) from credit and debit cards. Verification is not needed but the commission is not particularly low.
Download: Appstore , Android.
📌 Bestchange.ru — monitoring of exchangers (mainly for the Russian-speaking segment). There is an English version of the site — https://www.bestchange.com/, but it has a much smaller number of exchange directions.
In addition, we found many services that allow you to buy cryptocurrency in an easy way, however, at the moment they do not support TRX yet.

Bitcoin price gained pace above the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the key decline from the $10,975 swing high to $9,957 low. The recent wave was such that the price even spiked above the $10,400 level. Moreover, there was a break above the 50% Fib retracement level of the key decline from the $10,975 swing high to $9,757 low. However, the bulls faced a strong resistance just below the $10,100 level.
Additionally, yesterday’s highlighted important bearish trend line is acting as a solid resistance near $10,420 on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair. The pair is now consolidating below the trend line and the $10,500 resistance. Moreover, the 61.8% Fib retracement level of the key decline from the $10,975 swing high to $9,757 low is at $10,510.
Therefore, the price could rally if it breaks the trend line and the $10,500 resistance area. The next stop for the bulls could be near the $11,000 resistance area in the near term. On the other hand, an immediate key support is near the $10,250 level. If there is a downside break below the $10,250 support, the price could start a fresh decline in the coming sessions.

Rating wallets for TRON DApps by TronHives.com

Rating wallets for TRON DApps by TronHives.com

https://preview.redd.it/h6uz07a6o2b31.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=94bb281864e79ea521136f08d472a0fb4ccb87a2
When we created the game BeeHive, we were faced with the task of advising our players from which wallets supporting TRON would be most convenient to participate. Having gone through the Internet and not finding a single such rating, we had an idea to create our own.
I want to bring to your attention my rating of wallets that support Dapp on the TRON blockchain.
I divided the article into two blocks: participation from 💻PC and 📱smartphone.
______________
Very important: Before using any of the wallets — make a backup, because if you accidentally log out of the wallet, then it will be impossible to recover funds!
______________

PC
It turned out that for participation from a 💻PC there are not so many options. Optimal use of browser extensions for Google Chrome.
https://preview.redd.it/5m7rjcuju2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=cfbf31a9bb32c65995325f456f81e85a6bc905fe
1. TronLink — the best way to participate, in our opinion. The wallet supports the main and test networks, is systematically updated and has everything for comfortable participation in DApp applications.
Download: Google Chrome
https://preview.redd.it/ns74u5wzu2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=eee1ae0e13a58e0be16c45d5bf6ec7f554aa0be2
2. TronPay is the second most popular browser extension, in many respects inferior to its competitor, both in the number of users and in the activity of developers.
Download: Google Chrome

https://preview.redd.it/he6kggvuu2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=72e3f307aebc976fe490cb2ccebfaf9ae6782f2e
3. MathWallet is the third application on our list. The newest, but actively developing. Of the main advantages:
The browser version is Google Chrome and Opera. However, be careful when participating, because the applications are quite new and there are no guarantees that they are not subject to risks of hacking or bugs.
There is a test network Tron Shasta, however, using it to test new applications will not work because the resource uses its DApp Store, which hosts applications from the main network.
Download: Google Chrome, Opera .

More options for using the PC to participate in the Dapp, unfortunately, I could not find.
Smartphones
As for 📱Smartphones, the list here is much more extensive. It contains products that have been on the market for a long time, and very young, promising.
And opens our rating:
https://preview.redd.it/4iytbmwvu2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=026de4dce80ba7978f8fbd588f9c791e0f608367
1. MathWallet — In our humble opinion, the best wallet for Dapp TRON apps at the moment.
Main advantages:
  • Support for many blockchains, including Tron, Ethereum, Bitcoin, EOS, Neo, Ontology, Cosmos, Binance, and others.
  • Two types of wallets: Hardware Wallet and Cloud wallet. When choosing hardware, for each cryptocurrency a private key or code phrase is created, thanks to which you can restore a separately selected wallet in any other wallet.
  • The ability to add any number of purses of the same type.
  • Built-in Swap, thanks to which, you can exchange any list of supported cryptocurrencies for another with two clicks, without the help of additional services.
Important: keep in mind that when exchanging, you incur all commissions of the network and as a result you may receive less than expected (especially relevant for conversion to BTC)
Download: Appstore , Android .

2. Dapp Pocket — a good wallet with:
  • Support for Tron, ETH, BNB, and other less popular blockchains.
  • Built-in Swap, but only for the exchange of ETH and its tokens.
  • Quick Sign (TRON) — the ability to disable the need to confirm transactions for trusted DAPP applications.
  • Collectibles browser — collected games with collecting characters in one place, quite a controversial plus. It is difficult to judge utility because we did not use this function.
Download: Appstore , Android , APK .
https://preview.redd.it/dqlzmfq6v2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=e7d9ab7cecb5832db3bb841312beacc5060ae278
3. Banko Wallet — a multi-currency wallet from the developers of BITROCK PTE. LTD. The advantages of which include:
  • DAPP support on TRON, ETH, ONT with a recommendation system.
  • Support hardware and cloud wallets.
  • There is the possibility of investment inside the wallet — a controversial plus.
Download: Appstore , Android .
https://preview.redd.it/cyw8j7abv2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=e2ff1c0c1057184c104921380f18ff2d6d16d938
4. GuildChat is an interesting product, it is a social platform for communication in the subject of Dapp applications and participation in them. Switching between DApp and chat occurs in one click.
Advantages of the application:
  • TRON, ETH support.
  • Discussion chats DApp applications.
It seems to me that applications are at the initial stage of their development and should be watched.
Download: Appstore , Android .
https://preview.redd.it/22w7ltmdv2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=ec0ce2463e8e7d6b6a9179732a10838191fa32f1
5. TronWallet — the official wallet from TRON.
The wallet got only on the 5th place due to the not always correctly working DApp browser. The advantages of the wallet include:
  • Trading TRX and its tokens TRC10, TRC20 inside the wallet.
  • The ability to freeze TRX for getting a bandwidth or energy.
  • Cryptocurrency statistics TRON.
Download: Appstore , Android , APK .
https://preview.redd.it/1bkfnyjhv2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=1f70bde5837bdef95708ef31441127a56ae1542c
6. TronLink — eponymous wallet from Google Chrome application developers.
Unfortunately, a DApp browser is not yet available in the European territory, however, the service supports the Tron Shasta test network and can be useful for developers to test their product on mobile devices in the test network.
Product Benefits:
  • Test network support.
  • The ability to freeze TRX for getting a bandwidth or energy.
  • Constant updates and product development.
Download: Appstore , Android , APK .
https://preview.redd.it/9rhmesocu2b31.png?width=80&format=png&auto=webp&s=c136b831b04ff703489b7dcba7546039e7dacd35
7. VenaPi is a rather interesting wallet, however, I didn’t manage to open my application using its built-in DApp browser, therefore we leave the evaluation of this wallet to the will of the readers of this article, and we assign an honorable 7th place to the wallet.
Download: Appstore , Android , APK .
In the article I reviewed only the strengths of the wallets and it would be interesting to hear your opinion on the use of these wallets, as well as hear about the minuses and their weaknesses.

BAT/Brave in the News

Twitch game streamers now can tap in to Brave browser payments
The ad-blocking browser adds a third category of online creators who can get paid by Brave users -- and a third $1 million giveaway.

Basic Attention Token Launches Support for Twitch Publishers, Adds $1M to Referral Program
Allowing Twitch creators to become Brave Publishers is part of the team’s ongoing campaign to restructure the current system of digital advertising, which requires growing the platform’s user base.
“Supporting Twitch streamers is part of our mission to reset browsing by giving a better experience to users and content creators,” said BAT CEO and founder, Brendan Eich, in a statement to Coinsquare Discover. “Users love to give to gamers they follow and now Brave lets fans directly support their favorite Twitch streamers.”

Is this web browser the answer to YouTube’s new monetization policy?
YouTube users who want to get paid are beginning to turn toward a new web browser that makes use of cryptocurrency and could allow content creators to get around the social media platform’s evolving payment system.
As reported by Polygon, YouTubers are beginning to flock to Brave, an open-source browser that blocks ads and allows users to decide for themselves who gets paid what.

What’s Brave, YouTubers’ new favorite browser?
It’s a scary time for YouTubers: YouTube’s community guidelines are changing seemingly on the fly, demonetization is affecting a large number of creators and the future of the platform that many people call home is uncertain. Creators don’t want to leave YouTube, but they are trying to figure out what’s next. Maybe the answer isn’t finding a new home, but a new browser.

Study Breaks: How Blockchain Technology will Shape Our Future
The rising tech made popular by Bitcoin has applications extending far beyond banking and finance. Mentions Basic Attention Token.

Why futurist Mark Pesce wants you to buy 15 minutes of his time on the blockchain
Pesce says the idea came to him after Mark Jeffery, an author and close friend of Pesce’s, made a tongue-in-cheek tweet in August last year, which read: “By the year 2018, 4 out of 5 Americans had their own personal cryptocurrency”. He was also in part inspired by Mozilla founder Brendan Eich’s Basic Attention Token, which is designed to “unfuck” (his words) internet advertising through rewarding both users and publishers with tokens by ditching all the complex audience segmentation and cross device tracking involved in modern-day advertising and valuing an audience’s attention equally.

News You Should Know:

AT&T And Bayer Bet On Blockchain To Tame Digital Advertising
https://adexchanger.com/online-advertising/att-bayer-bet-blockchain-tame-digital-advertising/
Dear ad industry: You should care about media literacy, too
I have an odd proposal for the ad industry: One of our most potent weapons in the war for human attention is the media-literate consumer, and we should work to cultivate more of them.
I’m talking about the consumer who can tell when an ad is an ad, when a news story is sensationalized with partisanship or outright faked, and when a publisher cares more about clicks than quality. These are the consumers who, when they see a cluttered ad experience, know that their attention isn’t being properly valued and promptly install an ad blocker. These shouldn’t be the consumers who scare us; they should be our allies, and we need more consumers to be like them.

Note: These three stories below relate to cryptocurrency mining and Coinhive, which as appeared on several sites. Brave already protects against this, but we could use the stories to show how common this is becoming.
LA Times serving cryptocurrency mining script
The Los Angeles Times website is serving a cryptocurrency mining script which appears to have been placed there by malicious attackers, according to a well-known security expert.
British infosec researcher Kevin Beaumont, who has warned that Amazon AWS servers could be held to ransom due to lax security, tweeted that the newspaper's site was serving a script created by Coinhive.

Showtime websites secretly mined user CPU for cryptocurrency
This past weekend, Showtime websites were found to be running a script that allows the sites to mine visitors’ extra CPU power for cryptocurrency, as pointed out by users on Twitter. The afflicted sites included showtime.com and showtimeanytime.com, but the script has since been removed following reports from Gizmodo and other sites.

Hackers Hijacking CPUs to Mine Cryptocurrency Have Now Invaded YouTube Ads
The latest network to be targeted by cryptojackers is Google’s advertising service on YouTube. As Ars Technica first reported on Friday, users on social media started complaining earlier this week that YouTube ads were triggering their anti-virus software. Specifically, the software was recognizing a script from a service called CoinHive.

Roaring Fans on Twitter:

  • VintageVolatility @thetrading Highly recommend the Brave browser. Just look at what it did to the @DailyCaller site. 21 ads and trackers blocked and 28 https upgrades. The beauty is they get paid through @brave without me having to withstanding this sort of onslaught. 6:15 PM - Feb 22, 2018
  • Let's Encrypt @letsencrypt Thank you to @brave for supporting an even more secure Web through their sponsorship of Let's Encrypt! We look forward to continuing to create a better Web alongside you. 12:20 PM - Feb 27, 2018

What's the best option for a long-term HD mnemonic?

So, among apps that support HD wallets, some use BIP39 mnemonic system, others use a the same word list but a different method of generating a seed from them, and others don't use a word list. Are there others that use a different word list entirely? Some use a password or pin, others don't. What about checksums? I'm just wondering if there is a list anywhere of the different wallets, services, and apps and what mnemonic system they use or what other wallets they're compatible with.
For desktop use, I use Armory, for mobile use Mycellium, and I have cold storage on paper wallets made from bitaddress.org (offline, of course).
Moving forward I'd like to start using the word-based mnemonics both for hot wallet backups, and for cold wallets, but I want to make sure that I use the option that appears it should be best supported moving into the future. Upon looking up the different wallets I'm aware of, it looks pretty clear that a straight BIP39 implementation is the standard, but Electrum is awfully popular.
Here's what I've gathered so far (please correct me where I'm wrong):
I'm curious to hear your opinions on where things are headed, and would be happy to update the above with other wallets, etc., or more complete or up-to-date information.
Edit: updated based on comments. An additional source of confusion is the many places that make claims about BIP39 compliance when that's not the case - such as this literature for Ledger claiming Electrum uses BIP39.

3000 bits for your thoughts? Review Hive Android for 3 mBTC - we are interested in your feedback!

We are looking at unifying our range of Hive products and would as a first step like to collect more feedback on what you like or dislike about Hive Android. So we are giving away 3 mBTC to the first 50 users who write a few sentences about their experience with Hive Android. Here is the process:
Note: Please write your feedback here on Reddit for this give-away. We don't want to mess with the Google Play review process. Of course you are free to leave a review there as well, if you had done so anyway.
A few words on what you will be installing, if you choose to accept this mission: We are one of the wallets listed on the bitcoin.org wallet selection page. We are recommended by BitPay as being payment protocol compatible and we have received a 5 out of 5 rating from CoinBrief. The Google Play listing and this comment has more details about the kind of permissions the app requests and why we do so.
Alternative mission: If even 3 mBTC cannot entice you to install the app, we'd like to know why that is! 1.5 mBTC to the first 10 users who explain their reasons for staying clear of this app. We'll have to be a bit picky here, so just "I'm too lazy to install it right now" won't be eligible for this pay-out - sorry! ;-) "It needs too many permissions!" is a fine reason, but maybe you could elaborate a bit on what kind of privacy/convenience trade-off you find optimal.
Looking forward to your input!
Edit: The software is licensed as GPLv3. Source code is available at https://github.com/hivewallet/hive-android/ .
Edit: I'm closing this now, as this post doesn't have much visibility anymore. Thanks to everybody who gave their feedback, it's very helpful! If you already commented below, but haven't finished your review, feel free to still do so. You might have to page me specifically though (mention me as jav_rddt ) or send a PM or otherwise I might not notice your edit. Thanks again everybody!

Dogeparty Pulse #11 - Happy Holidoge

Much excitement! With the holiday season upon us, what better time than now to get an amazing insight into the world of cryptocurrencies and gaming!? It’s not too late to participate in cryptocurrency games and tokens, and to give or receive the gift that keeps on giving. Happy Holidoge to all and to all good Doge!

Weekly General Update

A great Dogeparty Hangout was held last week with several participants. Continue reading below for an overview and summary of the participants and their topics, as well as the time intervals for each. The next Dogeparty Hangout #11 will be announced once it’s scheduled so that you may ink it on your calendar.
Dogeparty Hangout #10 -Making game tokens and items with Dogeparty
Participants/Topics:
0:15 - 0:29 Wendell introduces the participants
0:30 - 8:02 Jens discusses the Dogecoin Foundation and bridging the Dogecoin and Dogeparty communities. Dogecoin Foundation has been in a difficult situation in recent months because of U.S regulations, which has made it difficult for the Dogecoin Foundation to do what it set out to do, which is fundraising for charities. The Foundation has been trying to hash out how it can work, as well as cryptocurrencies in general, in order for them to be used for social good. Jens continues on to discuss his perspective on Dogecoin versus Bitcoin, and how these technologies can be used for the community instead of just as financial services.
8:03 - 9:55 Wendell provides brief overview of what games, game tokens, and game items are. A token can be something you own. For example, a ticket that allows you entry to an event, a stock token that can provide you with ownership in a company, or something of redeemable value. The various blockchain platforms have brought about the possibility of anyone being able to issue a secure, reliable token for low cost. He continues to provide examples of how a game token could be used within games before segueing into the next speaker.
9:56 - 13:53 Michael is working on a project called CryptoVerbs. He provides a visual presentation in the video containing a checklist of crypto-tokens and how they may be used on a more granular level. He suggests tokenizing user actions within a game. There are so many verbs and actions that we use in games on a daily basis which are being looked into in order to tokenize these actions. It’s part of a larger project to bootstrap this functionality. You can look at it as a gamification layer on top of games themselves to make the game more interesting, and more specifically, when used in role playing games or card games.
13:54 - 19:35 Gareth is working on a blockchain-based card game named Deckbound. The card games are in the style of Magic The Gathering and Hearthstone. Deckbound leverages blockchain technology for various parts of the game environment. In the video, Gareth provides a visual presentation of Deckbound and bitbind.io. Bitbind provides an open/public API service used to tag Bitcoin transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain so that anyone, theoretically, could use bitbind to play games using Deckbound cards. Complex systems can also be used leveraging bitbind’s APIs. All data is published, however the bitbind service is there to provide a convenient interface. All APIs will also be public. Gareth continues on to explain in detail how transactions items may be used.
19:36 - 24:48 Shaban, from EverdreamSoft, introduces Spells of Genesis, the company’s second game. The first game was a traditional trading card game named Moonga. EverdreamSoft was at the beginning of the free-to-play game model in the app store. In Moonga (similar to Magic The Gathering), the player trades a card for real money, so one game item can have a big value for players. Their new, innovative direction is to put all of the game assets on the blockchain. Spells of Genesis is a new game that takes the Moonga universe, but mixing arcades and card games. The crypto-economy is integrated in the game story and in the game itself, not only for payments, but as a whole economy. Cards can be traded in a decentralized manner, or purchased and playable in the game. The user is master of their asset which can be traded or sold on any blockchain platform. Shaban provides a live demo of the game.
25:40 - 30:55 Wendell discusses Vizor, one of three projects behind the reason why the Dogeparty platform was created. Vizor is like the YouTube of VR. He provides a visual presentation in the video. On Vizor there are various different types of web-based experiences (Web GL), such as Oculus Rift, and these experiences are similar to a YouTube experience. These are all real-time rendering. Vizor Create is a tool that is like a visual programming editor. VR worlds can be built and run in real-time, different graphics can be loaded in, and it can be published back to the main Vizor. VR worlds of any sort can be created, ranging from a game to a non-interactive experience. A VIZR token will sell things like texture, 3D objects, sounds, shaders, and all types of various modules that will be able to accept a Vizor token. The goal is to create a complete VR ecosystem.
30:56 - 35:10 Jef discusses using blockchain technology for crowdfunding. Swarm likes crypto-fuel application apps - projects that have their own coin that is used, or consumed in the app. He discusses which industries should be focused on in order to get the current status of applications transformed - i.e. existing businesses or new businesses. Looking at new businesses and games in particular, Kickstarter presently has 466 live crowdsales for games. Some are offline games, however the vast majority are video games. Adding crypto-tokens to the crowdsale of these games will provide value by, for example, raising funds by selling the coin and creating incentive.
35:11 - 38:48 Tom introduces Koinify, a crowdfunding platform. Koinify was started primarily to focus on games, initially to convert these centralized games into a token economy. Their most recent project is Gems. The advantage of using these crypto-tokens is bootstrapping - an easy way to distribute the tokens to a mass population that creates incentive. Additionally, there’s interoperability where people can exchange tokens in different markets. A token system is interchangeable by nature.
39:12 - 48:23 J-Dog provides a visual presentation and discusses the DogepartyChain.info service he created to help the community visualize the Dogeparty blockchain and data flowing across it. Users can view the network (transactions, burns, etc.), browse assets across the network, view information about individual assets, and see address balances. APIs were written to help the community to use, and easily digest the Dogeparty platform. The API’s can be used by developers in a number of ways, including to check if an address holds a specific token/asset and how much. API results can be easily customized to fit a developer’s preferences. All of this information is valuable within a game because it allows developers to easily interact with the Dogeparty blockchain and do things like verify if a user (address) has a token (asset) in their wallet, and enable or disable game functionality based on the results.
48:52 - 49:48 A question received from the audience included inquiring why the DEX is not being worked on while other projects continue to be developed. Wendell addressed that a new developer is presently being brought into the team to continue work on the DEX. As Dogeparty was initially created for the purpose of supporting developer projects, the DEX may have taken a bit of a lower priority. However, a developer is spinning up to work on this now.
49:49 - 53:32 Mike from Galactic Systems introduced the topic of in-game governance. They’re a virtual world or a platform for any type of game or social interaction. In addition to building the Galacticoin crypto-system and implementing governance functions within the blockchain (starting with the user registration and transactions), Galactic Systems is building in digital rights management for user created content as license keys within the blockchain. The company is expanding into deed registration for virtual land, like in Second Life, and a dispute resolution system for an in-world court system. The goal is to decentralized governance into the blockchain, so that users govern themselves and resolve their differences in a decentralized way. Avatars will essentially have a Bill of Rights.
53:40 - 54:35 Conclusion and final words from the meeting participants.

Questions Answers
Do you find it Ironic that you'll likely see a large boost in sales, after posting free codes for your game on TPB? Haha, I don't. But I can't tell if that happened (no data). But it makes a good point, on how pirates are not thieves, and that they are really cool :) Ok, I shouldn't use the word pirates, whatever, I hope you get what I mean ;)
Why are you so chilled with people downloading your games for free, and what are your thoughts on piracy in general? See other comments that just popped up for 'reasons of piracy'. People just pirate games for a wide range of reasons. Other's despise it. Others don't care. Some of the torrentors buy the game if they like it, some can't afford it!
Could you elaborate a little on how you've done financially? I'd be interested to know how many donations you've received vs. how many times your game has been pirated. I sold around 1k copies so far. No idea on amount of pirated ones. But I guess it's always proportional to sales. Somehow.
Congratulations! I really want to check your game now. Edit: that sounded really rude, is not, sorry :( Haha. No worries :) Look the game up on youtube to see what's this about! Link to www.youtube.com
Did you pay Jesse from OMFGcata to commercialise your game? Hell no! He just picked it up and started playing! Also, I don't think I could afford such thing. I also don't think Jesse would do that.
I'm at work, so I can't check now. Can you tell us a little about the game for those of us that don't know it? Ok, McPixel is a save the day guy, like MacGyver or MacGruber. The game is a point'n'click adventure. But you traverse short simple levels. Each level has a bomb fused at 20 seconds and you have to use whatever's on screen to disarm it. Then you end up doing something totally awful and it blows up.
How greenlight works? i want it for steam!! People vote for games to get them on Steam!
What's you position on horse-sized ducks? Misionary.
What language did you use for game? and what extra libraries? I have no idea what your game is and have not played it, but I heard that it's good, but I can't get it, but I just want to know. Thanks! AS3 + Flashpunk. Here: Link to mcpixel.net
I haven't actually played the game, but have watched Jesse Cox of OMFGCATA play it. I was wondering, has youtube playthroughs had a noticeable impact on your game's traffic? Super friggin awesome impact. Better than any reviews and other stuff. And it's really fun to watch people play it! I suppose the game is 'photogenic' in a way :)
PewDiePie started a Let’s Play of McPixel yesterday and he likes it quite a lot. How much do you think that his 1.5 million subscribers will increase your sells? It increased my sales really much! I think around 1000% even (from 10/day to 100/day)
How did you get in to creating games? I wanted to do that since ever! I was toyiong with computers as a kid and breaking them and creating awful C64 BASIC games. In the end... I became a teacher! :P But then lots of things happened and I now make my own games for a living! And It's a thing I always wanted to do and it feel really cool :)
What language/software/framework did you use to create your game? Did you use any external libraries? Is the level creatoeditor a separate application to the actual game? How long did it take you to finish development? Cheers. Ok, here we go: - The game is made in AS3 using Flashpunk - I used flashpunk, as I said :) - The creator is an unlockable part of the game - It took me roughly 10 months to make that game. It was started during Ludum Dare 21 one year ago. LD is a 48 hours game making competition. The version made during that time can be played here: Link to mcpixel.sos.gd
How long did it take you to create the levels? I imagine some the bonus levels took a ton of time, like the bonus stage of chapter 4 with all those bombs. Which level did you have the most fun creating? Also, thanks for creating the game! It was great fun playing through it. Some levels took 2h to make, some took whole day. Mostly depends on the amount of re-used graphics. I don't know! All the levels! i had olots of fun, but it also was a lot of work!
I assume from the menu that you'll create DLC now, but what's your plan after McPixel? Sequel? Or a different game / genre? Any plans you can talk about already? No plans for now It's Uncle Frank! Link to imgur.com Mosty McPixel Characters didn't have names, but this one was created when I planned for them to have names.
How did you motivate yourself to actually develop the game? And, what experience/training do you have? I look in my fridge and have to make a game before food runs out :P Haha, well not all the time, but that happens to everyone. I have a tiny industry experience (worked on an startup MMO that failed www.lifeon.pl ) I have been learning making games by making games most of the time, because that's what I love to do and what I always wanted to be doing in life! (Ok, except for taking over the world)
How long have you had your company and would you count yourself as succeeding at what you aim to do? I am not a company! Ok, I am, but just for tax collectors. I consider myself successful, because I do what I love. I make games that people enjoy! My aim reaches no further than that! At least for now!
Have you considered getting this sold on steam? GOG? humble bundle? I don't know the logistics, benefits, or anything else about this, just curious :) Yes, Yes and yes! I'm looking forward for the upcoming Steam Greenlight launch (on 30th) to try and get it to Steam!
Can you actually live from being a small indie developper? Yup! But it can get rough on you.
Please will you tell us when you're websites back up so we can buy your game? (or tweet when it happens, that works too) I surely will!
Proof? Oh, Link to twitter.com Sorry, I'm not a good redditor :P.
I just watched the launch trailer and I am torn between awesome and wat? How long did this take to develop? 10 Months roughly. First version was made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare competition and you can play it here: Link to mcpixel.sos.gd It had 6 levels. Making all 100 levels took a long time, and I made few other games in the meantime too.
What are all the possible endings in level 1? Got every other level gold but the first. :( No spoilers! Take a break and make sure you clicked everything. The actions are different when you hold or not hold an item, keep that in mind too!
How much money has this game made you? How much did it cost you to make? It costed me 10 months of living to make 9you know, food and stuff. I sold around 1000 copies so far. I will use that money to make more games!
So did you have money in savings during those 10 months, or did you work a regular job at the same time? I had money savings from Thelemite sponsorship. In the meantime I made Super Pig and got some money too. Then I was a part of Indie Buskers, then I launched Super Office Stress. So I had to take breaks from making McPixel to make other games to be able to survive. Sorry for no linkies!
Heya! So I study, among other things, game design as part of my University education. It's super fun, because I think that the soul reason programming languages exist is to make games from them. I got some questions about your perspective on the indie scene and maybe some about game development processes. It is 2AM I can't think of any more questions. I like your game. I loved the fanart thing. Got a favourite piece of user art? Indie games is indie love! I always make sure to speak about fellow indies cool games when they come out, same with all the other indies. It's like a big family thing :)
Link to www.desura.com. Is this a legit website too buy your game from, or should I buy it through your own website? Yup. My website is back up tho, and you get a desura code too.
Dude, your game looks hilarious. Is there any way to buy it while your sites down? No way to do that, sorries :(
Huh? You can buy it on Desura ... Oh I forgot about that, sorries. Anyways, site's back up!
Any plans for a new game? Not yet, I need to answer some questions first!
Would you put the game on a humble indie bundle? I am watching the you-tube game play right now and it looks amazing man! Great work! You have my support. I would! and I hope too in the future!
What do you think of space butterflys? It's not that. It's what the great Space Butterfly thinks of me that matters!
So, pretty much every level in this game is completely random and nonsensical, not a single thing in this game makes sense.. Which is why t's so awesome. So how did you come up with the ideas for these completely ridiculous and hilarious levels? I did not 'come up' with them. I just drew stuff midlessly and it came up like this. It was really hard to 'come up' with 100 levels, so I just went 'what the hell, i'll just start drawing'. And it worked :)
So how is the viral advertisment business going lately? Unexpectadly unexpected. I am kind of full of panic now :P Ok, perhaps I saw this coming from afar when posting the TPB comment, but no way I thought it would get this much recognition.
Your nickname looks familiar, some Slavonic roots? I live in a small town near Poznan. Are we acquainted?
As a someone who is interested in game development, what do you suggest what should i start learning first? Just google tools. try Stencyl, Construct, Love, Game Maker! Use whatever you like!
Pancakes or Waffles? Waffles!
Can you describe the short-term effect (apart from crashing your site) that the reddit attention had? My fingers hurt, I got some review copy requests pumped my twitter followers.
How do you come up with ideas for your games? Do you have an idea of what type of game, you are gonna do next? Do you watch all videos of people playing your games? :) I know you watch mine, and I've seen you comment on others. Alright, that's it. Stay awsome! Not all, but I do. I stay tuned on your Super Pig playthrough tho! Looking forwar dto the rest of Super Pig :) Oh and by the way, you need an Armor Games account to get onto the scoreboard, make sure you have that before you finish! I forgot to change that in the help!
What was your mental state when designing the levels for McPixel? It was nonexistant :P.
of all - how successful was the Indie Buskers event? Indie Buskers was really great! We made around $800 each! And we made some cool games too! Anbd had fun! It was a great experience :)
, what is your relation to S0phieH? Sophie is a friend and a fellow indie game developer! I haven't met her in real life tho.
I am rabiat! Am I the only one to see through this obvious publicity stunt? I can do nothing but raise my hat to you, Sos. Your stunt succeeded and the hive-mind didn't suspect a thing. You're not the only one. But it is not true. I got ambushed by reddit while sleeping soundly.
Sos you're awesome and truly an inspiration to the rest of us aspiring game devs. May I ask any plans for more games in the future? Thank you :) I plan to keep making games! I don't know what will it be yet!
You probably won't see this. But, the music at the intro of the game and menu is very similar to some music from the first episode of the 2005 Season of Doctor Who with Christopher Eccleston. Is this intentional? Oh, I did not know that. Can you link that please?
Well couldn't you also accept google wallet? I was just too lazy to code it :P.
Don't take this the wrong way but, what the fuck were you thinking when you made that game? Haha. This is the tough kind of question. :P I'll just say that the original tagline for McPixel was "Facepalm yourself to death"
I just played the demo and i need to say it's really funny. so are planing to make something like an update with more levels? There are 100 levels in the full version, and I will proceed to make additional Free DLC promptly!
Have you thought about putting a Bitcoin address in your post on Bittorrent? That way people who download your game can send you money right there. I'm considering adding other options ot the website after reading through the comments. I need to look up on the different methods, tho!
Cheers :) Please accept this: Link to mcpixel.net. Oh crap I replied to the wrong post, my brain is shutting down. I haven't had enough sleep, sorry! Anyways, try the game and see for yourself!
What's your favorite game, besides your own? :) Oh man, so many of them. Let me pick and underdog you should totally play. Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu (NES)
Can you explain to me what the game is all about ? i watched some Pewdiepie videos about it but... its so random, i dont even know xD but im looking forward to try it ! Cheers :) Please accept this: Link to mcpixel.net
Are you going to produce levels based on The Great Space Butterfly, our glorious leader, and ruler of all? If you honestly do, I will buy your game. If you don't... I'll still buy it because the game looks awesome and you're a cool dude for doing this AMA and caring about your customers. I will produce one level based on that, yes! Thanks :)
When will you give out free codes again? Now! Link to mcpixel.net
Hmm... I had a math teacher who went by 'Mr. Sos,' and I actually can't tell if that is you or not. Does Mendocino ring a bell? It's not. But I was a teacher too! :)
Are you Swedish by any chance? The trailer sure looked Swedish. Haha, nope, I'm Polish!
Hello Sos! What a cool game. I do have one question for you, though. How many cakes have you eaten in one sitting? Nuit.
Is it true there will be a space butterfly level in the upcoming dlc? Yup!
Do you have proof this wasn't a ploy to get reddit to buy your game? Yes, I do. But I prefer you just trust me. I would feel bad trying to prove my right.
So whens the space butterfly level coming out? I will do my best to push it by the end of the week!
Just wanted to tell you I was interested in buying your game, but I really dislike paypal. So I'll be waiting until you hit the Android market for my phone, or steam if that pans out. Otherwise, thanks for making games. I don't think I say that enough to developers. Thanks :) PayPal has an advantage of being popular, regardless whether people like it or not. Android version is coming reeeeaally soon, and I hope to get on Steam, with help of the people (Greenlight).
You should go back and watch it once you've done the puzzles, though, because Jesse is honestly hilarious. Haha yes he is!
Dubstep. Bloom. Heavy DOF. HD textures. First person. Snipers. Noscopes. 360 noscopes. A ranking system. Prestige mode. Your game has none of these ;_; It has bloom!
I think this is the most appropriate time for me to wish you a happy cake day. Happy cake day!
I HAVE CREATED AN ART FOR YOU. IT SPEAKS MY SOUL. Link to i.imgur.com. This is so awesome! Please submit to the website! Thanks!
Because of TPB, I will buy the game. Enjoy my $10.00. Thank you! I will use it wisely!
Mentioned in another reply that he was a teacher, probably made the game during his free time. I quit teaching a year before i went full-time indie.
I'll send an Sos to the world. Hello, this is the World, WTF did you just sent me!?
Hello World!
I saw "I'm SOS" and got so excited that Spurrier was on Reddit. Then I read the rest of the title. I am now disappointed, but I will say that while you are not the OBC, you seem like the kind of person we need in the game development and distribution industry. Keep up the good work! Sorry! I did not know there were more Soses :) And thank you!
I can see your game getting pretty popular. You have people like pewdiepie playing and that will get your game some much deserved attention. Great game friend! Thanks :) It's really great to see people enjoy my game!
My fingers hurt, I got some review copy requests pumped my twitter followers. Also, my nap got disrupted.
I can see like a 500% sale boost for you since the post about TPB comment. Nah it was not that much actually. And Pewdiepie posted a new LP video today too, so it's hard to tell what influenced the sales more.
Get some sleep. x. Is this the massage? More to the left please.
You're great for doing this! Just want to let you know, I'm torrenting the game now because I'm impatient, but I'll buy it ASAP. I watched a couple minutes of the playthrough and I was just laughing through it. Great job on this. No worries, grab the game! Link to mcpixel.net
Piracy isn't bad itself - our system makes it bad. Think about it. (just like automation by machines is only taking our jobs in the current system but is not a bad thing after all) Also if OP reads this: thanks for this great act! Cheers!
Link please for legit version! Link to mcpixel.net
Just wanted to say I really like your website. Thanks :) I hope you don't mean the DDoS notice!
Pewdiepie. That is all Brofist!
MCPIXAAAAAHL!!! 20...
19....
If you post a discount code for reddit users, I will buy the game without even looking at the video. That's what being a good guy developer gets you. Brofist. I don't have reusable codes promgrammed, so I'll just leave few discount codes here: 02E9-7813-FECA 02E9-7814-2DC3 02E9-7814-38CA 02E9-7814-414B 02E9-7814-4925 02E9-7814-5CA1 02E9-7814-6857 02E9-7814-7027 02E9-7814-77F4 02E9-7814-7FEC.
Hey. Just wanted to say that I bought the game after Jesse's first McPixel video (so I played the other parts before he did) and I loved it! :) Thanks! It's great to hear you enjoyed it :)
